The GSF team:
meet the crew!
Below are the wonderful folks we have on staff; in addition to them it is notable that we have many volunteers who support us! Nancy, Sarah’s mother-in-law has come Fridays for many years to help bunch flowers and bag greens, Carol, Pam’s mother-in-law delivers our Leesburg CSA, Emma, who was on leave to do a sabbatical from the military in the winter and chose to spend her time with us, James Schuler, who found us on a farm tour and joins us most Tuesdays for the hardest work we have to offer - plus many more who come when they can!
James
James joined us in 2023 and has become a critical part of our field planning and management - he knows plants! Over the seasons he has increased our growing capacity, variety, and keeps our cold-weather CSAs running.
Cassidy
Cass also joined us by volunteering at first, and now works in the field as well as helping us run events…her artistic skills and vision for product creation have quickly made her a huge asset.
Norman
Sarah’s dog arrived to the farm in 2020 and has been a favorite among both crew and guests - his jobs are killing moles and voles and greeting people; both essential roles here! He is paid in pets and treats.
Ashley
Ashley found us 2 years ago and volunteered her way into a job - while she is only with us a few hours a week, she is a powerhouse in the field, and even started her own flower farm and egg operation.
Bee
Bee wears many hats here: she not only cares for Sarah’s son but helps restock the Shop, wash and process in the pod, works markets, and is our go-to driver for deliveries and procurements.
Vallon
Pam’s dog failed bomb detection school because he loves people too much - he wears a hunting collar because he loves to run, and also loves vegetables as you can see…even ones he harvests himself without permission!
Amanda
Amanda ran our flower program last year, and this year runs her own small flower farm with big plans to expand to veggies and eggs eventually. She works for us in the field and at markets while she builds her business.
Nathan
Nathan has many years of farming experience and he moves fast - he has his own farm right down the street and is a real foodie, so we are delighted to have him in the field.
Iris
Iris is a donkey with a job: she lives with other livestock to keep them safe, as she has a natural instinct to defend and alert for predators like coyote. She is also cute, and customers love when she is rotated onto the front field by the shop - she loves pets!
