We are hiring!

Thank you for your interest! We are currently interviewing for 2026 positions, please review below and email gatheringspringsfarm@gmail.com with your resume and a brief letter about yourself to apply.

Role: Farm Assistant

(Part-Time, Seasonal with Future Potential)

We’re looking for a motivated, curious, and upbeat farm assistant to join our small, regenerative vegetable farm for the 2026 growing season—and hopefully beyond. This is hands-on, real farm work. It’s physical, it’s varied, and it’s deeply satisfying. Our ideal candidate is someone who loves being outside, enjoys working hard, and wants to better understand where food comes from. Maybe you see yourself farming someday, or maybe you’re just hungry to learn—either way, we’re excited to teach the right person.

Schedule

  • Tuesdays: 8am–4pm

  • Thursdays: 8am–12pm

  • Fridays: 8am–4pm

  • Weekends: 2–3 farmers markets per month (7:30am–2:30pm)

There are occasional opportunities for additional hours during especially busy weeks.

We’re hoping for a March start, with hours ramping up gradually—from about 12 hours per week in early spring to 26–30 hours per week by late April. Hours remain steady through October and taper off during the winter. Ideal candidates will be interested in returning for future seasons.

Compensation

  • $12–15/hour, depending on experience and performance

  • Plus plenty of fresh vegetables

  • Returning, multi-season team members are eligible for additional benefits

Pay increases with speed, skill, and proficiency.

What the Work Looks Like

No two days are exactly the same, but most will include a mix of:

  • Harvesting beautiful, fresh vegetables

  • Washing, packing, and preparing produce for market and CSA

  • Weeding and field work

  • Market setup and customer interaction (on market days)

Training on tractors and working with chickens is optional but encouraged for those interested in expanding their skills.

Skills & Experience

  • No prior farm experience required (but always a plus!)

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs

  • Comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of weather (unless unsafe—no farming in lightning!)

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and willing to learn

  • Repetitive tasks don’t faze you—and you take pride in doing them well

Work Environment

Most of the work happens outdoors, with time spent in our climate-controlled wash/pack trailer. This is an ideal environment for learning to farm—questions are always encouraged.

A positive attitude and optimistic outlook are essential. Farming is demanding, but it’s also beautiful, grounding, and relentlessly gratifying. We value curiosity, humor, and care for the work. We hustle, we communicate, and we take pride in doing things well.

If you’re passionate about food, vegetables, and meaningful work—and you want to be part of a farm that values learning and craftsmanship—we’d love to hear from you.

role: Farmers Market Team Member

Haymarket Farmers Market | Seasonal, Part-Time

Our farmers markets are the financial heartbeat of Gathering Springs Farm—and they’re also one of the most joyful parts of what we do. This is where our work in the fields meets our community face-to-face. It’s busy, lively, people-forward, and genuinely fun.

We’re looking for friendly, reliable folks to represent our farm at the Haymarket Farmers Market, helping us set up, sell beautiful produce, connect with customers, and close out the day strong.

Schedule

  • 2 Sundays per month, May–November

  • 7:30am–1:30pm, full shift (setup, market, pack-down)

This is a great fit for someone looking for a consistent, low-hour commitment with high energy and high reward.

Compensation

  • $12/hour

  • Plus up to $35 in fresh vegetables each market

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Setting up and breaking down our market stand

  • Engaging customers and sharing what makes our farm special

  • Entering sales and checking out customers using a smartphone/POS system

  • Keeping the stand organized, stocked, and looking great

  • Working as part of a fast-moving, collaborative market team

Skills & Experience

  • Retail, sales, or farmers market experience preferred (but not required)

  • Friendly, confident communicator who enjoys talking with people

  • Comfortable using a smartphone for sales and payments

  • Able to lift up to 60 lbs and work on your feet for the duration of the shift

  • Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Reliable, punctual, and a clear communicator

Work Environment

  • Haymarket Farmers Market: a bustling, well-loved market with ~30 vendors

  • Fast-paced, social, and community-centered

  • Expect lots of conversation, regular customers, and great energy

This is a wonderful role for someone who loves local food, enjoys meeting people, and wants to be part of a small farm’s success—without committing to full farm hours. You’ll head home with some cash, a box of vegetables, and the satisfaction of being part of something real.

Want to Spend a Day on the Farm?

We get asked a lot if we accept volunteers—and the answer is yes! We love welcoming folks who want to spend a day (or half-day) outside, get their hands dirty, and learn more about how vegetables are grown.

Volunteering at Gathering Springs Farm is a great way to enjoy fresh air, move your body, and get a behind-the-scenes look at a working farm. Tasks vary by season and may include planting, harvesting, bed prep, or moving tarps—sometimes mellow, sometimes a solid workout. We’re always happy to share what we’re doing and why (just know we tend to talk while moving!).

Things to Know Before You Come

  • Work is outdoors and weather-dependent—dress for the forecast and wear clothes and closed-toe shoes that can get dirty

  • Bring gardening gloves if you have them

  • There is a very friendly farm dog who may jump and will definitely offer kisses

  • We don’t work outside in storms or drenching rain, but we may switch to indoor tasks—so don’t assume weather means cancellation

Scheduling

  • Scheduled volunteer days are the 1st Friday of each month

  • If that doesn’t work for you, we may be able to find another time—just ask!
